Can Video Games Influence Violent Behavior in Kids?

Has your mother ever told you that she would not buy you a video game because it is too violent? Was your response it's just a game and it's o.k. Well there may be something to what she says. A study done by a professor of psychology at Iowa State University may prove her point. According to the article, Life Lessons: Children Learn Aggressive Ways of Thinking and Behaving from Violent Video Games, children who repeatedly play violent video games are learning behaviors which can influence them as they grow older. The study also found that the effect is the same regardless of age, gender, or culture. As quoted from the article "Douglas Gentile, an associate professor of psychology and lead author of the study published in JAMA Pediatrics, says it is really no different than learning math or to play the piano."
